Short and sharp by design, the 2025 World Rowing Virtual Indoor Sprints trade the championship distance for fast online racing over a shorter piece. The sprints are raced from 5 to 9 March 2025, with each entrant logging an effort remotely on a Concept2 indoor rower.
A sprint puts the emphasis on a clean start and a high rate held to the line, where small mistakes cost more than they do over the longer distance. Times recorded from home are submitted online and ranked together, so a fast piece anywhere counts on the same board.
The compact format suits rowers who like a flat-out test and a quick verdict over a drawn-out grind. Raced on the Concept2 over a few days, it gives the virtual calendar a faster, punchier edge.
