Coastal endurance racing is the long-haul cousin of the beach sprint, and the World Rowing Coastal Championships crown its global champions. The 2026 edition is held in Qingdao, China, from 10 to 12 October, on the same Yellow Sea coast that stages the beach sprint finals days later.
Offshore courses reward a different set of qualities. Crews cover long distances over open water, reading swell and wind, holding rhythm through chop and judging their turns around distant marks. It is a test of seamanship and stamina as much as boat speed.
Drawing the strongest coastal nations to one start area, the championships set the world standard for the endurance side of the sport. Qingdao's exposed water and changeable conditions ask hard questions of any crew chasing a title here.
