On 24 October, High Point’s international regatta will expand after a $200,000 foundation gift, with the reigning world champion USA women’s four headlining the Lenny Peters Cup.
Kate Knifton, Teal Cohen, Azja Czajkowski and Molly Bruggeman are scheduled to race a leading European crew at Oak Hollow Lake in North Carolina. The opposition lineup will be announced later. Paris 2024 Olympian Bruggeman replaces 2025 world champion Camille VanderMeer. Bruggeman did not compete internationally in 2025 but won two gold and one bronze medals during the 2026 World Cup series.
Foundation Gift Funds Expanded Coverage
The Lenny Peters Foundation’s gift to host Triad United Rowing Association will support expanded facilities for athletes and spectators. Plans include a seven-camera broadcast on YouTube and a giant screen beside the course, so shoreline spectators can follow the racing.
“These funds will allow us to continue elevating the athlete and spectator experience at the Lenny Peters Cup,” said Gene Kininmonth, who serves as head coach and race director for Triad United Rowing Association. “We’ll once again produce a seven-camera live broadcast on YouTube so rowing fans around the world can watch the racing, while our giant video screen on-site will let spectators follow every stroke from the shoreline.”
The broadcast will be available through the event’s YouTube channel and admission at Oak Hollow Festival Park is free.
International Racing Returns to Oak Hollow
The women’s four will headline a programme that again includes leading NCAA crews and European universities. Organisers also expect international collegiate entries, with cash prizes available.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the reigning world champion U.S. women’s four to High Point,” Kininmonth said. “It’s an incredible opportunity for fans to see the very best athletes in the world compete right here in North Carolina.”
Oak Hollow has staged two international events during the current cycle. In April, Team USA beat a World Team 9–5 in a Ryder Cup-style contest across several boat classes. The wider North Carolina Rowing Championships drew more than 1,000 rowers, 526 boats and 3,000 spectators, according to organisers.
At the October 2025 Lenny Peters Cup, Lauren O’Connor led the United States to victory over opposition from Germany and Ukraine, earning a $10,000 prize. The 2026 European challenger will complete this year’s headline match-up once its crew is confirmed.
