Oliver Zeidler
Biography
Oliver Zeidler is a German single sculls rower from Dachau, born in 1996. He won the men's single sculls title at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Germany's first gold in the event since 1992, setting an Olympic record in the semi-final along the way. He is also a three-time world champion, having taken the M1x title in 2019, 2022 and 2023.
Zeidler came to rowing late. He swam competitively before switching to the sport in his early twenties, then reached a world title within a few years. He races for Donau-Ruder-Club Ingolstadt and comes from a rowing family: his grandfather, Hans-Johann Farber, won Olympic gold in the coxed four in 1972.
He has also won European Championship gold medals in 2019, 2021 and 2024, and took silver in the single sculls at the 2025 World Rowing Championships in Shanghai.
