Simon van Dorp
Biography
Simon van Dorp is a Dutch (NED) rower who races in the men's single sculls. Born in 1997 in Amsterdam, he won the bronze medal in the single sculls at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the first Dutch medal in the event since 1968.
At the World Rowing Championships, van Dorp took silver in the single sculls in Belgrade in 2023 and placed fourth in the single sculls in 2025. He won a silver medal in the men's eight at the 2019 World Rowing Championships and competed in the eight at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
At the European Rowing Championships, he won silver in the quadruple sculls in 2023 and 2025, and earned medals in the eight in 2018, 2020 and 2021. He rowed collegiately at the University of Washington before establishing himself as a leading single sculler for the Netherlands.
