What It Means To Win World Championship Gold

Last week in Plovdiv, Bulgaria Sanita Puspure beat reigning world champion Jeannine Gmelin of Switzerland to win Ireland’s first ever world championship gold medal in the heavyweight women’s single sculls. Speaking here to Row360 after her race, Puspure explains it is her first time hearing the Irish national anthem played in her honour having never before won any senior international competition.
