The 2017 USRowing Convention Kicks Off in Florida

by Benedict Tufnell

The 2017 USRowing convention begins today in Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida; site of the 2017 World Rowing Championships held earlier this year.

Open to all USRowing members, the annual four day convention will cover a large array of topics from regatta management to high performance coaching.

The advanced coaches conference will feature “some of the most successful coaches in the country, along with experts from outside the rowing community” say USRowing.

Confirmed on the speaking list are Tom Tehaar, coach of the multiple Olympic gold medal winning US women’s eight and Mike Teti, the US men’s eights and Cal Varsity coach, who will both be leading a Q+A session together.

Teti and Terhaar join a number of other leading US coaches including Steve Gladstone (Men’s Head Coach, Yale University), Yaz Farooq (Head Coach, University of Washington Women’s Rowing) and Greg Hughes (Men’s Head Coach, Princeton University).

Also featured on the convention schedule is the “Business of Rowing” program, in which experts will discuss the unique challenges facing rowing organizations of all sizes.
